Charles Batchelor (MRICS ACI Arb) is a Director and co-founder of Spectrum.
A former Divisional Partner at Strutt & Parker, where he led the Special Projects Team. Charles has been active in the UK wide property market for 38 years.
Charles had a background in Landlord & Tenant work (and holds a Diploma in Arbitration) before diversifying into Special Projects, involving largescale development projects for several Defence Industry Clients.
In 2007, soon after Spectrum’s inception, Charles was appointed to the Development Manager’s role for the St James’ Gateway development by the Crown Estate, see Case Studies.
His responsibility here was to fast track the project to planning involving him in dealing with:
- Initial Strategic advice on the viability of the development
- Instruction of and control of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver design work and planning
- Setting up and undertaking the VP Strategy and the resulting negotiations with Tenants for this and the negotiation of interim short term lease renewals
- Complex Stakeholder Consultation
- Pre-letting negotiations for several Units in the rebuilt scheme
Charles has since been appointed by the Crown Estate to carry out the Landlord & Tenant VP strategy work for a further two buildings.
A major project for Charles at the moment has involved him with work alongside a restaurant Client who is new to the UK market to help them roll out a new chain of restaurants in conjunction with a UK JV partner. This project involves all aspects of work including that on the flagship store, central kitchen and individual units and their design.
